This historic accessory was originally born in Great Britain at the end of the 19th Century, worn by British soldiers as a symbol of their belonging to a specific military regiment. The accessory’s widespread popularity can be traced back to 1919, when the Prince of Wales decided to wear a red and blue striped tie — representing the Grenadier Guards regiment — during an official visit to the United States.
